First Friday’s April 1st Opening – Perspectives on the Crossroads

Well, after living in the Crossroads for a year and a half, I thought it was time to finally get some of my work in a show. Thanks to Antonia and Scott Hale at the Urban Living Center for all their work in making this happen and allowing me this opportunity.

Thoughts Behind the Perspectives

When contemplating a show like this, that will be featured on a First Fridays in Kansas City where there are thousands of people out roaming the streets, its a little daunting to find just the right concept. My photographic eye tends to get a little jaded especially after seeing the same buildings and environment everyday for over a year now!

But there is something special and unique about the Crossroads. Maybe its that the city sits on a hill and Im always looking up at the city, who knows, but its a really cool spot with lots of character and a perfect subject for architectural detail photography.

This show, Perspectives on the Crossroads, is a very focused attempt to highlight the often overlooked architectural details in this area. There are so many gems its hard to pick just a few for this show, but the one’s I have chosen I feel are not only iconic, but unique and sometimes quirky. Maybe that’s why I find them interesting enough to photograph.

First Friday’s in April = Awesome Weather and Great Times

We invite you to come out and view the show next Friday April 2. The gallery will be open on First Friday’s from 5-9:30pm. While your there, you can enter your card or contact info for a chance to win one of several prizes we will be giving away after the show opening.

Perspectives on the Crossroads will run through the month of April and will be featured at the Urban Living Center at 17th & Baltimore next to the Cellar Rat. We look forward to seeing you out there on Friday, the weather should be AWESOME!
