It was really touching to hear a few of the stories from these families. We even had the garrison General and Colonel show up for pics and to share with us about their gratitude for serving these families in such a unique way. The Colonel gave us all a Military coin “Presented For Excellence” for our service… more than I ever expected in return and a great honor to receive.

Both days I assisted for Peter Chin out of New York. Peter was fun to work with and it was great to see his unique approach to lighting portraits. Peter comes out of the fashion world, and therefore, his lighting style is very glamorous. I always love watching other pros at work to see how they approach the lighting, the backdrops, the setup, and the interaction with the subject. Peter works slower than I tend to… which is good to remind me that I dont have to always be doing something. Sometimes just standing there and observing how the light is hitting your subject is what it takes to discover that little something extra to make your image stand out. If your blazing through a set, you wont notice those little intricacies and details. Good word Peter.

We shut down the background lights and went only with a key light and front fill to create the dramatic gray backdrop that really makes these colors pop!
